THE THREE INVOCATIONS OF POWER

The Power Institutions are well aware that they have no own power, but simply exploit and manage the power of the citizens.   They also know that foreign power can never be appropriated and that this Natural Law is the cause of the instability of the systems they manage and exploit. 

People however must not   know and, above all, must not believe to the above simple truths. The people have to believe in something that will diminish their logic and awaken feelings of hope, fear and excitement. It is only with such feelings and not with logic that a "blanket assignment" of the power of people to others be achieved. 

 All regimes, in which there is alienation of the citizens from their own power, are unstable according to the physical Law of non transferable people power. So, it was necessary to invent and use efficient supports to achieve acceptable stability. These supports were devised very early. They were the requests for help, the invocations: Of God, of the Homeland and Society and of the People's Power.  With these invocations, the Rulers from managers of foreign power have succeeded to become at people conscious a closed group of people, a caste with special spiritual and moral abilities;  a caste specialized in expressing, servicing and safeguarding, of the will of God, of the needs of Society and of the power of People.

 

The invocation of God

According to this invocation the Rulers are the creation of God will and not the creation of human aspirations. This is how “the kings of God mercy” were created.

In some cases the mercy of God was considered an insufficient support. So, a more powerful one was devised. Rulers themselves became Gods as, for example, the Pharaohs in Egypt. In other cases, they have been compromised to be the official representatives of God; to be the Messiahs.

With this invocation the decisions of the Rulers became infallible, since they were essentially God's decisions.  Any attempt to challenge and criticize them was a crime and a blasphemy against God.  As it was subsequent, this perception brought the Rulers above the law. The laws were of value and authority only when they agreed with the Rulers’ will, the will of God. Gods are over the laws. Operating organs of the state must serve the commands and wishes of the Rulers, not of the laws. Citizens, finally, could only hope for the protection of the Rulers or of the operational organs. The protection of laws has become invalid; if not non-existent.   

A second important result of this invocation was the transformation of religious officials into informal Powers organs; Informal but essential and effective.

 

The Invocation of the Homeland and Society

According to this invocation the Rulers have as their primary objective the treatment of the serious and urgent needs of the homeland and society. The management of the citizens' power must primarily aim at this treatment. All others follow

The whole invocation develops in two phases.

In the first phase, citizens must believe to the existence of the great dangers of the homeland and society. Such dangers always exist. If not, they have to be invented.

In the second phase, the citizens need to know the great spiritual, moral, physical and other abilities of somebody, who can quickly and effectively cure these needs.

With the completion of the second phase, the conditions for effective support for an oligarchic system have been created. The invocation fills citizens with feelings, of nobility, self-denial and enthusiasm that will generally be used not to support the homeland and society but the men of authority.

With this invocation all decisions of the Ruler are justified, since they intend to treat the first priority of the needs of the homeland and society. Any questioning of these is contempt as hostility toward the homeland and society. It is betrayal and crime.  Above all is the objective. “The end justifies the means”.

 

The invocation of the power of the People

This invocation is the most effective support invented by the caste of the professional managers of the peoples’ power. It is still the support with the highest aesthetics and security. Who is the one who will challenge the power of the people? Who is he who chooses to fight against himself?

 In regimes in which the power of the citizens is just invocation and not reality, their essential form is oligarchic. But it's not just that. The worst thing is that in these regimes the perception is that the rulers in essence are irresponsible. The people who choose, every four year, their representatives, programs, politics and promises are the responsible ones. The rulers and the political system are logically, morally and institutionally irresponsible. Liability search is allowed to arrive at a verbalistic and non-essential critique only for discussion purposes.

This invocation evolves in two phases of more long duration of the invocations of homeland and of society.

The first phase involves the creation of the perception that the exercise of power by the citizens themselves is utopia like “the perpetually moving device of second order ".  We remind you that this device is in agreement with the first law of thermodynamics (the law of conservation of energy), but is contrary to the second one (the law of entropy).

The second phase involves the creation of the perception that only suitable representatives of citizens can successfully exercise the power.  If the exercise of power by people with increased moral and spiritual powers has problems, what problems will have the exercise by ordinary citizens, by citizens who are not interested and do not want to get tired from for the exercising power? By citizens who do not want to assume the same responsibilities as their representatives?  It was indeed a great idea that an ordinary citizen could exercise his power without effort, without responsibility and in an excellent way, choosing only once per four years, the most competent and moral representative for this job!!!

The effectiveness of this invocation proved to be very great in practice, greater than that of the other invocations. This has multiplied its performances and improved the details of its structure and mode of operation.  It is said that its optimization has been achieved with the today Media technology, but the prediction of its value and its potential has been made many years ago.   Niccolo Machiavelli (1449 - 1527), the Italian political scholar has written, five hundred years ago, the following:

"The Ruler must take care that all his actions  appears to be the result of the people; of the people’  request and consent, but  in such a way that the people do not rule, but simply remain a reference for every power."  

A statement of MP and former minister Mr Blueman, also is related to the third invocation. Mr Blueman clarified honestly and courageously the way in which the citizens' representatives were elected in Greece. The statement was made in the summer of 2005 and reads as follows:

"My seat in the Parliament essentially belongs to President Greenman and if he thinks that it is doing bad, he can take it back."  

This statement, although contrary to the dominant perception that the seats in the Parliament belong to the people, has neither neither bothered nor troubled any of the experts, politicians or ordinary citizens.  Without worries and hesitations, everyone continued to talk about power and, by extension, about the responsibilities of ordinary citizens. They continued to say loud about the past and future decisions of the "Master-People ".

Despite the great effectiveness of this invocation, its philosophy is irrational and incompatible with natural and moral laws. I do not know exactly why, but the subject reminds me of the following joke story:

Two people travel with the Athens - Thessaloniki train. They sit in the same wagon, but the first sits looking the direction to Thessaloniki and the second to Athens.

The second traveler asks the first one:

- Where do you go, sir?
- To Thessaloniki, he answers.

The second traveler is upsetting. She remains skeptical and then full of joy and satisfaction says:
- My dear. I got on the train in Larissa and I travel to Athens. I sit opposite you and look in the direction of Athens. In this way you will go to Thessaloniki and I will go to Athens!!!

Is there a correspondence between the forms of the regimes and the forms of invocations?

There is a correspondence, but this is not true with certainty but with a high probability.  As a rule, the invocation of God is used at monarchies, of homeland and of society at oligarchies and of peoples’ power at representative democracies, at least in many of them.

The election of our representatives, the party programs, the contracts with the people, and the commitments of candidates, everything that is done in the present democracies is nothing? Is not it a form of citizens' power?

Everything you have said can be a real power of the citizens, but they can also be invoked by their power. A reliable estimate can only be made for a specific country and for a specific period of time. My general estimation - the estimation of a citizen - is that in most of today's representative democracies, what you referred to as the power of citizens, are air words that are unrelated to logic and truth, but are related to the aesthetics of the invocation.

From what you have said, we conclude that all the regimes rely on some invocation.  Is there a regime that does not use this support?

Yes there is one, it is the regime where power does not simply derive from citizens but is exercised by them. In such a system the invocation has nothing to offer. It has no sense of being. Such a regime was the Athenian Democracy, where the general assembly of the citizens, the Ecclesia of Demos,   exercised the Power.
